Dos and DONTs of Throw Pillows

Are you a fan of Throw pillows? Do you like the idea of different mix and match of pillows?
Well, there are different ways to incorporate throw pillows within your space. It could be with different shapes, sizes, textures and patterns. Throws and accent pillows can truly upgrade the entire look of a room within the home.

Things to check out for when purchasing throw pillows for your home:

DOs
1.       Do consider the size of a throw pillow before purchasing or placing them. A standard square size pillow (18 inches) will relax neatly on a sofa while an oversize pillow (24 inches) creates a more casual feel.
2.       Do ensure that colours coordinate. Make sure that the colour of the throw pillow you are using within a particular space balances and rhymes well with the colours already within the space in order to avoid them looking odd.
3.       Do consider comfort. Even though your pillows will be serving as a decorative piece, ensure that they are comfortable. You would like to cuddle them on cold nights, rest on them and a lot more. So, make sure that your purchase is as pleasing to touch as it is to look at, you don’t want anything to scratch or leave prints on your skin if you snuggle.
4.       Do ensure that your throw pillows are rightly fitted inside their fabric. Make sure you avoid purchasing throws that have cheap and wobbly zippers; you don’t want pillows popping out of their fabric.
5.       Do use odd number of pillows. In throw pillow styling, the use of odd number placement of pillows is unique. Try one, three, five or more depending on the size of your furniture. Note: DON’T OVER DO IT

DON’Ts

1.       Don’t forget which room you are buying for. Throws come in different shapes and sizes, ensure you use appropriate pillows in appropriate spaces. Use of cartoon or wild life characters throws is best for kids room which would definitely not suit your living room.
2.       Don’t try to be too trendy. It is great to be trendy but don’t overdo it. Unless you are Mr. or Mrs. Money bags, you don’t have to be a die-hard fan of what is in vogue, and then end up disliking it. So, ensure you purchase what you like, and what you can be comfortable with in the long run.
3.       Don’t overspend.  Throws are one of the cheapest interior design pieces you will ever find. Since they enhance the beauty of the home, you don’t need to overdo by buying too many. You can buy quality throws at guilty free prices.

Kindly share your throw pillow experiences and challenges. I will be glad to hear from you all.  Drop those boring pillows and get great ones. Have a lovely week.

Design Quote of the Week

Have you ever stopped to think what fun this business of living can be? If you haven't, and if you are one of those who insist upon believing that life is humdrum, grim and boring, then I'm afraid this department is not for you. For I don't believe any such thing. I know that we can all free ourselves and live our lives fully, zestfully and joyfully!

Importance of interior designs in office spaces

Hello lovelies, hope you all had a fantastic weekend, and hope you all are geared towards a new week.  I spent my weekend taking a class on lighting in interior spaces, which I hope to share with you all soon, and also getting enough rest in preparation for this week. Today, I am sharing the importance of interior design in office spaces. How interior design will affect your company and beef up your business. For those who own a business and an office space, and also those who hope to have one soon, this is for you all.

With the cost of payroll and attracting and retaining the best staff or clients, good office design and a really well designed and fitted out office has never been so important…

1.       It Motivates Employees and improves Productivity – having a great and well-designed interior space in an office will have a great impact on the way employees respond to work.  Considering that the office is home away from home for many people; it is essential to make the working environment very comfortable and inspiring. You don’t want your employees looking dull, uncomfortable and angry which will most likely lead to low productivity.

2.       It Excites Clients – have you ever visited an office and you immediately want to patronize them? (I am sure this has happened at least once) well, that is the huge impact that a good office design will have on people and to be clients. An exciting office interior will make your business look more successful, professional and can help build your client trust.  You will find customers trooping in all day long. it is all psychology.

3.       It is a Huge investment – Never consider the money spent on interiors a waste. You are investing in the productivity of your employees and the credibility of your business. Your office interior can actually speak volumes about your business, its values and approach that it takes.

4.       It Reflects  on your business – Your office space should reflect and represent what your business does and the industry you work in. Creative businesses such as advertising agencies, design studios and media, will have more modern offices with some bright pops of colour and style. This won’t be most appropriate for more traditional businesses such as law firms, banks and accounting practices. However, there generally are no official rules. So long as your office space is warm, inviting and resonates with your business culture, then you should be okay.

Good office design can solve a  multitude of problems and can transform a tired office environment into a rejuvenated and inspirational one. if the approach is taken seriously by both clients and office designer the result can be truly magnificent, resulting in increased employee morale.

Design Quote of the week

When it comes to decorating a room pattern and texture are perfect partners; they compliment and highlight each other's charms and personality...Some might say that pattern and texture follow the rule that opposites attract.
