JUST IN TIME FOR THE BIG CELEBRATION

Let me be the first to wish you EID MUBARAK!!! (in advance). I want to believe i am the first yeah, lol. How are you doing? How are you preparing for the Eid celebration? I believe you have the holidays all planned out like i do. I have been seeing sacrificial rams all over the place, and i can;t help but anticipate this coming Eid celebration. Thinking about how much meat i will get to eat, i can worry about detox after :)

It is just a week away, preparations have started already and everyone is trying to get their rams and aso odun  (what is aso odun in english anyway?) One of the big parts of this celebration is the welcoming and entertaining of guests in your home to celebrate with you. You definitely want to put your home in a great shape and also wow your guests.

As you are planning this big celebration, here are a few things to consider in putting the home together and making it welcoming for guests.

1. Clear the Clutter -

This simply means taking out things you do not need in the home. It could be in the living room, it could be a shelf, it could be your TV stand, the kitchen counter, the entrance area etc. Don't be a compulsive collector  You could simply store in a box somewhere or donate it out.  Declutter your space , make it look clean, refreshing and inviting.

2. Have a Welcome Mat
Never underestimate the effect of a welcome mat. They are not only to avoid dirt coming into your home or to protect your floors. They serve as a warm welcome. it is a psychic thing. or should i say i like to think it is. Have a beautiful and colorful welcome mat and see how it affects your guests.

3. Make good use of Planters -

This is one of the most important decorating tool in the home. Plants add colour, shape, and life to a room and for that alone i love them. They are a powerful tool in the designing of a space. they exhibit the effect of nature in every space and in turn the room has cleaner air.

4. Add a Pop of Colour -  Colours do speak you know. Not literally though. Ever asked yourself why you feel so energized in a  vivid  red room and you feel calm in a neutral blue room. I want to believe  that this is majorly because colours are closely connected to our emotions.Pop of colour can be in the painting of your wall, a nicely coloured flower vase with flowers, throw pillows and a lot more. Add that pop of colour and see how it will affect your space.

I hope this will be useful for you, kindly let me know when you try it out and what you think of it. Catch you all after this big celebration. super excited because i will be spending mine in my home town ijebu mushin. If you know great places in ijebu; kindly share with a sister.

Thank you for taking out time to read.  Toodles

Interiors and Budget

hello lovelies,  hope you all had a fantastic weekend? I had a splendid weekend; but it was pretty short :(  all the same i am strongly geared towards this week and i hope you are too.  Everybody enjoys a great space; and every great space comes with a price. I am not going to sit here to tell you how much it will cost  to revamp a three bedroom or how much it costs to revamp a kitchen ,but i will tell you this; you can achieve a fabulous dream space with a practical budget.

Ever since I got obsessed with interiors and every other thing that has to do with home management,  I have realized that to help my clients and also to help myself  I have to stick to budget. Well, with interiors budget is the amount of money that a client makes available to the interior designer to carry out a said project. Budget makes life easy for both the interior designer and the clients, from the very beginning of the project to the end of the said project.

Budget helps with all kinds of project, be it window treatments, soft furnishings, wall claddings, home refurbishing and many more.

Before I get to the nitty gritty, I want each and every one of us to understand that you don’t necessarily have to be a millionaire to have a great interior space. I have met quite a number of people that said to me that olowo lon se interior meaning only the rich can afford a great interior space. If you have that kind of mindset, kindly erase it, no scratch that; forget it. I always say everyone deserves a great space, I do and you do too. It’s all about what pleases the eye, it’s all about what is functional, creative and beautiful at the end of the day.

Every  individual can get whatever they want, it all balls down to budget, and I mean practical budget.  What we do as professionals is that we sit with you, and explain to you what your budget can afford and what it can’t. Mainly what is feasible and what is not. Based on the fact that interior designers are professionals, they are used to the market and they know where to locate reliable vendors, they know how to cut cost on one item or the other without compromising the clients taste and quality of items. They have been able to build a network because of their experiences.

With a budget it is easier to go straight to work and deliver, without a budget it might be a little tricky but not impossible. When your client doesn’t give you a budget an interior designer tends to raise several quotations for them to choose from. Of which you might be going too cheap or too expensive for the client. The great and positive thing is that you can always reach a conclusion and both client and interior designer are happy at the end of the day.
So next time you feel the need to refurbish your home ; contacting an interior designer will save you a lot in the long run and the designer  will also help you  stick to budget.

Thank you for reading this post, I hope you enjoyed it and I hope you learnt one or two :) . Till next time, stay humble, focused and you can start saving up for that dream home. *winks

LOFT 9B

Hi guyz, how are you all doing? (in wendy Williams voice, lol)I guess fantastic. its all about a unique loft this week on the blog. One of my favorite lofts is that of THE SPOT on ebony life TV. You know that program that is anchored by Ebuka, Lamide and Zainab? Yes that one. I love that space so much; I would love to meet the person who designed it.
So I went in search of lofts and I came up with this unique one. it made me think that we need to stop doing the regular. We need to be more creative and artistic with our space. I love modern spaces but sometimes it could be boring; but hell yea to traditional , rustic, retro, vintage and all those old stuff. Temi dollface just flashed in mind as I love the way she dresses and uses those vintage and retro designs to work with modern styles. As it can be done with fashion, so can it be done with interior spaces.

So check this out, I hope you love it and I hope it inspires you.

Top View of living room. Who says you need to have similar sofa set.

Display shelf is Ah May Zeen! Who knows this might be the house of a lawyer or not

Guess where the stirs lead to...

Kitchen - Traditional, pretty and very easy to clean.

Take a close look at the dinning table wood effect, the chairs and yes the black candles.

Lovely accent- white brick effect, shutters, bed and wardrobe very retro  YAY or NAH!

SPOT ON! no its not a TV its a frame.

Huge crush on the bedside lamps.

Brown doing so well. The bricks are making a huge statement.

Pick your space.

Great work area, you can get some work done from home

So who says you cant paint your room with more than a few colors; who says you have to o for similar sofa set, and list goes on,  just be creative and choose designs that work for you.

I hope you have enjoyed reading this post and you are inspired. Kindly like the post or drop a comment. Till next time stay humble, focused and determined.

Cheers

Maintaining a Glam Bedroom Look

Hello fam, yea I know it’s been a while, but you know how this things happen. But the good thing is I am back now, yeah!!

A few weeks ago I got a call from a client complaining about how she has not been able to maintain the glam bedroom look that was handed over to her.  She was very excited about the bedroom space but now she is angry at herself and she needs tips on how she can maintain the glam designer bedroom look.

How then should she keep the designer bedroom look???? Here are a few tips for her and everyone struggling with the same:

1.       Ensure you have enough wardrobe space; or better still switch your wears. For example; you could store some of your wears in a box , and you could switch them often or within a particular period of  time in order to keep them from spilling out.

2.       Avoid placing too many things on top of dressers or drawers.  Too many can make a room look cluttered and disorganized.

3.       Make good use of your bedside drawers. This will enable you keep out of sight things you will probably need by your bed. Say your Holy book or Prayer book, sleep mask and many more.
4.       Make good use of decorative boxes or ottomans to store your belongings. Example; Jewelry, scarves, handbags, belts and a lot more.

5.       Make good use of your under bed storage. This is the best storage space to hideout as many things as possible. I greatly recommend the ones with wheels; with this you can easily drag in and out. But if you don’t have the luxury of space under your bed you could use under bed drawers. This is good to store extra blanket, towels, bed sheets and many more.

With this few tips you can maintain your bedroom glam look for as long as you want.
Do drop your comments and suggestions on how to maintain a bedroom glam look, or how you maintain your own bedroom look.

You can also send me mails  at sheedahventures@gmail.com  concerning this post or any other;  I promise to reply you.
Thank you.
Cheers.

Getting the most out of your space

Hello lovelies, hope you all are having a fantastic week? Well, I am having a very great week, a wonderful one at that. I congratulate you all on our new president elect, may his tenure be a great one for us all. Today, I am sharing with you tips on how to manage a small space and making it look bigger.
Over the weekend my grand mum moved houses, and she had a lot to move. When I asked her what she needed most of this things for, she made me understand that she has had most of them before I was born. When an African woman grand mother tells you that, then you need not push further. After my discussion with her I concluded that a lot of us, especially those on this side of the world, have a strong sentimental attachment to items that we no longer need”. This made me think of a situation where an individual has a small space, but wants to fit in everything they have. Not very possible!

Here are tips on how to keep few of the items you love and still make your space look bigger

1.      Kick out any object that you do not need any more that also occupies space. I mean literally kick it out. I am also very guilty of this but I have realized that every individual has to let go at one point.

2.       Paint your walls white, off-white or any other colour close to white. White!!! This colour makes the room look bigger, brighter, cleaner and even fresher.

3.       Paint or wallpaper your space with vertical or horizontal stripes to elongate the space.

4.       Hang frames on the wall rather than placing them on the floor, avoid placing objects on the floor if possible. This doesn’t make the space look cramped up.

5.       Avoid using furniture that takes so much space. Use furniture with exposed legs, this gives an illusion of an extra space.

6.       Use furniture with hidden storage space. This way you can still keep some of the items you love without anyone seeing them.

7.       Avoid using pendant lights or down lighters. (i.e.  Lights that drop down from the ceiling). Mostly applicable for larger spaces.

8.       Make use of glass and mirrors. With glass and mirrors, you create a feel of extension of your space. It makes an individual feel like they are not limited within a space, and that there is an extra space around them.

Have you ever lived in a small space? Do you have a relatively comfortable space and still find it hard to fit it everything?  Kindly share with us how you managed your space and your belongings.  Looking forward to reading your comments

Thank you so much for reading the blog. I appreciate you all so much. kisses
