DIY : Vintage Bookmark

They don’t call it vintage for no reason. DIYs are lovely and having what it takes to do it yourself makes you the genius. So I came across this one few weeks back.  I haven’t tried my hands on this yet, but I hope to do so soon

Try your hands on this vintage bookmark, I bet you would want to show off every book you are reading just because of it. Better still, yours could be a retro or modern bookmark.

HERE IS HOW TO GET IT DONE.

WHAT YOU NEED:
  • Vintage buttons (Consider selecting a few that have a similar color palette, or mix it up and go for an eclectic look!)
  • Paper clips
  • Hot glue gun
  • Felt
  • Scissors

HOW TO :
Cut felt into squares slightly larger than the size of your button.

For buttons with a shank, thread the button onto the paper clip until it’s sitting at the top of the loop.  For buttons without a shank, simply place the paper clip where you’d like it to lay. Add a thin coat of hot glue to the back of the button + paperclip, and place your felt square on the glue. Hold until it sets.

Trim the felt from around the edges of the button, until the felt is slightly smaller than the size of the button – This will make it so the felt can’t be seen from the front.

Finally, use your button bookmarks to hold your place! In addition to books, these are also perfect for marking your page in notebooks, planners, and binders.
Looking forward to seeing your very own vintage bookmark.
If you enjoyed this post, kindly like it. Also, share your thoughts in the comment section.

Cheers!

Just for your BABY

Yellow, grey & Blue

Every expecting mum wants a lovely and comfortable environment for their baby when he/she finally arrives. Having a space (Nursery) dedicated to the baby is one great decision you will never regret taking.

Here are a few Nursery ideas that you can recreate for your baby.

Unique Furniture piece

Very chic blue & a touch of red

An Inviting ceiling & a stripe theme

Depending on your theme, You can play around with different paint colors, wallpaper designs, wall decals, furniture, plain, striped or patterned beddings etc.
Subtle does it!

Baby Girl

50 shades of class

N.B- One positive thing about nursery designs is that as a parent, you would not need to spend too much refurbishing or designing as your baby grows older. Many mothers will raise the question of “what happens as the child grows older? Will I have to spend to suit the age group as the child grows?”
But I will say this really depends on your initial design. Most of the nursery ideas I shared can be used for 2 -3 years, unless you are really keen on major refurbishing, every now and then. Another major thing that can affect the space is how well it is maintained.

Neutral with a touch of yellow

Plain & Pattern

The down lighter thou

With this in mind, the major change might be switching to a bed instead of a cot, repainting the walls and probably one or two arts here and there. After which the space can be used for a few more years. You wouldn’t break the bank for this.
Wooden Floor

Fresh and Comfy

There you have it! Design a nursery for your baby and he or she will thank you later.
Cheers.

JUST IN TIME FOR THE BIG CELEBRATION

Let me be the first to wish you EID MUBARAK!!! (in advance). I want to believe i am the first yeah, lol. How are you doing? How are you preparing for the Eid celebration? I believe you have the holidays all planned out like i do. I have been seeing sacrificial rams all over the place, and i can;t help but anticipate this coming Eid celebration. Thinking about how much meat i will get to eat, i can worry about detox after :)

It is just a week away, preparations have started already and everyone is trying to get their rams and aso odun  (what is aso odun in english anyway?) One of the big parts of this celebration is the welcoming and entertaining of guests in your home to celebrate with you. You definitely want to put your home in a great shape and also wow your guests.

As you are planning this big celebration, here are a few things to consider in putting the home together and making it welcoming for guests.

1. Clear the Clutter -

This simply means taking out things you do not need in the home. It could be in the living room, it could be a shelf, it could be your TV stand, the kitchen counter, the entrance area etc. Don't be a compulsive collector  You could simply store in a box somewhere or donate it out.  Declutter your space , make it look clean, refreshing and inviting.

2. Have a Welcome Mat
Never underestimate the effect of a welcome mat. They are not only to avoid dirt coming into your home or to protect your floors. They serve as a warm welcome. it is a psychic thing. or should i say i like to think it is. Have a beautiful and colorful welcome mat and see how it affects your guests.

3. Make good use of Planters -

This is one of the most important decorating tool in the home. Plants add colour, shape, and life to a room and for that alone i love them. They are a powerful tool in the designing of a space. they exhibit the effect of nature in every space and in turn the room has cleaner air.

4. Add a Pop of Colour -  Colours do speak you know. Not literally though. Ever asked yourself why you feel so energized in a  vivid  red room and you feel calm in a neutral blue room. I want to believe  that this is majorly because colours are closely connected to our emotions.Pop of colour can be in the painting of your wall, a nicely coloured flower vase with flowers, throw pillows and a lot more. Add that pop of colour and see how it will affect your space.

I hope this will be useful for you, kindly let me know when you try it out and what you think of it. Catch you all after this big celebration. super excited because i will be spending mine in my home town ijebu mushin. If you know great places in ijebu; kindly share with a sister.

Thank you for taking out time to read.  Toodles

Interiors and Budget

hello lovelies,  hope you all had a fantastic weekend? I had a splendid weekend; but it was pretty short :(  all the same i am strongly geared towards this week and i hope you are too.  Everybody enjoys a great space; and every great space comes with a price. I am not going to sit here to tell you how much it will cost  to revamp a three bedroom or how much it costs to revamp a kitchen ,but i will tell you this; you can achieve a fabulous dream space with a practical budget.

Ever since I got obsessed with interiors and every other thing that has to do with home management,  I have realized that to help my clients and also to help myself  I have to stick to budget. Well, with interiors budget is the amount of money that a client makes available to the interior designer to carry out a said project. Budget makes life easy for both the interior designer and the clients, from the very beginning of the project to the end of the said project.

Budget helps with all kinds of project, be it window treatments, soft furnishings, wall claddings, home refurbishing and many more.

Before I get to the nitty gritty, I want each and every one of us to understand that you don’t necessarily have to be a millionaire to have a great interior space. I have met quite a number of people that said to me that olowo lon se interior meaning only the rich can afford a great interior space. If you have that kind of mindset, kindly erase it, no scratch that; forget it. I always say everyone deserves a great space, I do and you do too. It’s all about what pleases the eye, it’s all about what is functional, creative and beautiful at the end of the day.

Every  individual can get whatever they want, it all balls down to budget, and I mean practical budget.  What we do as professionals is that we sit with you, and explain to you what your budget can afford and what it can’t. Mainly what is feasible and what is not. Based on the fact that interior designers are professionals, they are used to the market and they know where to locate reliable vendors, they know how to cut cost on one item or the other without compromising the clients taste and quality of items. They have been able to build a network because of their experiences.

With a budget it is easier to go straight to work and deliver, without a budget it might be a little tricky but not impossible. When your client doesn’t give you a budget an interior designer tends to raise several quotations for them to choose from. Of which you might be going too cheap or too expensive for the client. The great and positive thing is that you can always reach a conclusion and both client and interior designer are happy at the end of the day.
So next time you feel the need to refurbish your home ; contacting an interior designer will save you a lot in the long run and the designer  will also help you  stick to budget.

Thank you for reading this post, I hope you enjoyed it and I hope you learnt one or two :) . Till next time, stay humble, focused and you can start saving up for that dream home. *winks

LOFT 9B

Hi guyz, how are you all doing? (in wendy Williams voice, lol)I guess fantastic. its all about a unique loft this week on the blog. One of my favorite lofts is that of THE SPOT on ebony life TV. You know that program that is anchored by Ebuka, Lamide and Zainab? Yes that one. I love that space so much; I would love to meet the person who designed it.
So I went in search of lofts and I came up with this unique one. it made me think that we need to stop doing the regular. We need to be more creative and artistic with our space. I love modern spaces but sometimes it could be boring; but hell yea to traditional , rustic, retro, vintage and all those old stuff. Temi dollface just flashed in mind as I love the way she dresses and uses those vintage and retro designs to work with modern styles. As it can be done with fashion, so can it be done with interior spaces.

So check this out, I hope you love it and I hope it inspires you.

Top View of living room. Who says you need to have similar sofa set.

Display shelf is Ah May Zeen! Who knows this might be the house of a lawyer or not

Guess where the stirs lead to...

Kitchen - Traditional, pretty and very easy to clean.

Take a close look at the dinning table wood effect, the chairs and yes the black candles.

Lovely accent- white brick effect, shutters, bed and wardrobe very retro  YAY or NAH!

SPOT ON! no its not a TV its a frame.

Huge crush on the bedside lamps.

Brown doing so well. The bricks are making a huge statement.

Pick your space.

Great work area, you can get some work done from home

So who says you cant paint your room with more than a few colors; who says you have to o for similar sofa set, and list goes on,  just be creative and choose designs that work for you.

I hope you have enjoyed reading this post and you are inspired. Kindly like the post or drop a comment. Till next time stay humble, focused and determined.

Cheers

Interior design tip of the week

Lighting can be difficult to understand,
so a simple way to think about it is
- Task lighting is usually direct light,
while Up Lighting creates a reflective
and diffused ambience to a room.
